In June, we did what many claimed was impossible: peacefully mobilized millions of people to take to the streets and declare with one voice: America has No Kings. And it mattered.
The world saw the power of the people.

NO KINGS is a peaceful national day of action and mass mobilization in response to the increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption of the Trump administration, which they have doubled down on since June.

Join Indivisible St Johnsbury on the Courthouse lawn on Main Street at 10am Saturday, October 18 as we stand together against the abuses of power, cruelty, and corruption.

HELPFUL GUIDELINES TO KEEP EVERYONE SAFE
THANK YOU FOR SHOWING UP TO SAY “NO KINGS!” THIS SATURDAY IN STJ!
While this event is 100% organized by local volunteers who live here in the NEK, with no funding, we are part of a worldwide peaceful prodemocracy movement.
EVERYONE attending a No Kings event has been asked to watch this 4 minute video: Tips for No Kings Attendees. Please also watch the safety video below.
If you'd like to volunteer, please contact indivisiblestjohnsbury@gmail.com to let us know how you'd like to help. There is a need for more Safety Marshals.

Wear yellow if you can (hat, bandana, shirt, banana costume... whatever you have!).

Actions & Information: We will have a St J Indivisible action and information table at the Welcome Tent. Please visit to drop off FOOD DONATIONS for local food pantries or take what you need, grab a premade sign for the rally, sign up for St J Indivisible newsletters or to volunteer, take specific strategic actions for democracy & human rights, pick up “Know your Rights” cards to share & flyers for local businesses to post, and get info about upcoming events!

Safety: Please watch this safety & security briefing before the rally: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgAe7O0RenQ

We have notified the StJ Police and Selectboard about this rally. An Indivisible StJ member will be present to act as a liaison with the police throughout the event. All Safety Marshals will communicate through a Signal chat, to keep messages secure and confidential.

Traffic safety: Stay on sidewalks. Do NOT stand between parked cars. Use crosswalks and obey signs.

Peacekeepers: We are ALL responsible for using our own good judgment to help keep ourselves and each other safe. We will also have trained local peacekeeper volunteers in bright yellow vests that say "Marshal" on the back. Please ask for their help with any issues, thank them for volunteering, and respect their instructions.

Be Prepared: We may encounter a few rude words and gestures that we can ignore with a smile. It is always possible that individuals may seek to disrupt the event. Stay calm and do NOT engage with such individuals. Notify a Peacekeeper of any issues.

If someone threatens violence or shows a weapon, also call 911. If ICE or other federal agents show up, record any interactions, and notify Peacekeepers. Stay alert & calm, practice good judgement & courtesy, and seek to deescalate.

First Aid: There will be a First Aid station at the Welcome Tent. Medics in yellow vests will be circulating through the crowd.
Hydration: Please bring your own water bottle to reduce single use plastics. Bottled water will be available at the Welcome Tent if needed.
Parking: Please try to walk, bike, or carpool to reduce parking stress. For those driving who are able to walk a few blocks, please try one of these municipal lots:
-
Pearl Street Parking Lot (33 Eastern Ave)
-
Main Street Parking Lot (1197 Main Street)
-
Welcome Center Parking Lot
Respect all posted parking signs.

Restrooms: Public Toilets are open to everyone at the St. Johnsbury Welcome Center (Depot Square)

Support Local Small Businesses: Leave business parking lots & street parking for local business patrons. Allow people to pass on sidewalks. Do not block business entrances. Thank and consider making purchases at local businesses, especially if using their toilets.

THANK YOU for coming out on Saturday to stand up for our American democracy at this crucial moment. When we show up and stick together for an affordable country, where everyone has the freedom, safety and opportunity to succeed, we win!
Security
A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action and no civil disobedience. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events.
Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
