Monthly meals for the the Shelter at Moose River
The Northeast Kingdom Community Action's Shelter at Moose River is a low-barrier, 20 bed, 24 hour, single-occupancy shelter for those 18 years of age and older, who are experiencing homelessness. The shelter provides a warm, caring environment for guests, while connecting them with other NEKCA services and helping to craft housing stability plans, working toward permanent, safe, affordable housing.
Indivisible St. Johnsbury is committed to providing dinner for 20 people at the NEKCA shelter once every month. Want to be part of the food train? It's easy to help our neighbors in need.
When: Last Monday of the month (coinciding with Legislative Breakfast when the legislature is in session)
Where: Bring your contribution to the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum (1171 Main Street, St. Johnsbury) by 9:00 AM or deliver directly to the Shelter at Moose River (72 Moose River Dr., St. Johnsbury)
Who: Four volunteers need to sign up for each meal commitment: 2 for entrée (dividing the work and cost); 1 for dessert; 1 for a starch and/or vegetable or salad. The signup sheet will be brought to all meetings for people to volunteer – as much in advance as they wish.
What: Quantity to serve 20 people (for entrée, each of 2 volunteers cooks for 10). Containers cannot be returned.
Don't cook? Don't worry! Purchased, prepared foods or financial contributions are gratefully welcome!
