Brave Little State
The Brave Little State Action Group focuses on celebrating and strengthening civic engagement here in Vermont. Inspired by the idea that small states can have a powerful voice, this group highlights the unique role Vermonters play in shaping local and statewide democracy.
Our Story
By design, states retain vast powers independent from the federal government. They have their own law-making bodies, their own judicial and law-enforcement capacities, their own system of administration and taxation, independent from the federal government. They have the power to join into binding regional agreements with other states as well. Vermont can harness these powers to resist federal violations of the US Constitution, and reduce harm to Vermonters caused by unprincipled federal action.
The Brave Little State action group of Indivisible St Johnsbury exists to wake up our state leaders to the powers they have to resist unprincipled and/or illegal federal actions that harm Vermonters. We seek to build a robust network of Indivisible groups across the state that can inform, motivate, and support state leaders to use their power to shield Vermonters from an executive branch of the federal government captured by corrupt, undemocratic forces.
