Good Trouble Lives On Protest in St J 7/17, 4:30 - 6:30 - Protests Work Group
Protests Work Group presented a “Good Trouble Lives On Protest” event for Indivisible St J. This event commemorates John Lewis’s life and work on civil and voter rights. There was enough interest and volunteers to move forward. Action: We will register our group on the national website and work with the Communications Work Group to promote, press releases, etc.
Two tents, the Welcome Tent with water bottles and handouts and another for speakers/presenters.
Speakers are needed. Do you have any other ideas for speakers related to the theme?
Volunteers: at least two medics and 10-12 marshals. Let us know if you are interested in helping.
Communication: Will use a Signal Chat during the event.
Supplies: Medical supplies will be provided. Bring umbrellas for sun or rain to have available at the welcome centers. There will be new buttons. Handouts from Communications - something smaller is being worked on.
Sound system: We have an offer for a sound system for events. Protests Work Group will reach out.
Performers: The Solidarity Singers and the “Whistle Pig Riot Brass Marching Band” expressed interest in performing if we were doing it
Other features: Voter Registration table will be available
Signs: The sign-making event, which happened just before No Kings, was a success. Noted: 35 people attended, and we hope to do this again! It also engaged lots of younger people in No Kings. Update: Sign-making event, 7/13 (Sunday) from 3-6 pm at Sam's. They're opening a little early just for us!!
Stars and Stripes Parade Tabling under a tent in Bandstand Park in Lyndonville, 10 am - 2 pm - Education Work Group
Volunteers are needed — please contact us if you can volunteer that day. Plan: Provide handouts. (A smaller one is in the works.)
Collaborators: Indivisible NEK is collaborating on this effort. (They presented the “We the People” T-shirt drawing activity they are planning for the table.)
Local/State Work Group folks also expressed interest in this event. Providing a mini-food shelf, handouts on food shelves in the area, and a few other ideas.
